M F Plastics Manufacturing Ltd was set up in 2015 in response to the fenestration needs of the sister company; MF Plastics Ltd, which is purely a window fitting business. The manufacturing side of the business makes uPVC windows and doors using the latest engineering technology.
The business has experienced a 5-fold increase over the last four years, however they felt they had been operating at full capacity, and they needed to adapt. It was decided that there was a need to develop to capitalise on the business opportunities available to them.
The business was conscious that they needed to focus on several areas to increase profitability. To support with their growth ambitions, they reached out to the Manufacturing Growth Programme (MGP).
Michelle Connor, Manufacturing Growth Manager for the Coventry and Warwickshire region supported the manufacturer with free tailored support and MGP grant funding. The MGP funding was used to make a purchase of a Wegoma 4 Head Inline Turret Welder. The equipment has boosted their capacity and productivity and helped to safeguard 13 jobs.
Michelle Connor, added her support; “With the grant support for the purchase of the new Wegoma 4 Head Inline Turret Welder, the company has been able to manufacture at a quicker, more predictable rate, they can now produce a much larger yield of profiles per day, therefore feeding the demand from their growing stable of current trade customers and allowing them to develop the sales side of the business to give their sales teams the surety of quality and quantity which they can sell onto potential new trade.”
Colleen Muldoon – Taylor, Business Development Manager, commented; “Having successfully supplied our fitting company with high quality windows and doors, the ever growing demand from outside builders, window companies and tradesmen necessitated our expansion: the business was there, so we had to invest to capitalise on it.”
Future plans for the business include making improvements to the marketing strategy of the business.
