A successful Hertfordshire manufacturing company specialising in tech and machinery to coat lenses opened its brand-new Letchworth HQ on Friday 11th January in Hertfordshire. Euro MP Alex Mayer, cut the ribbon as MGP client Optimal Technologies, plans a new era of expansion.
The twenty-one-year-old company makes precision machines to coat and clean the lenses used in everyday items such as sunglasses and safety goggles to make them less likely to scratch.
The firm has recently benefited from a European grant to part-fund and design new branding to help it stand out in a global market. Managing Director of Optimal Technologies, Dean Thompson, showed Ms Mayer around the new premises and explained to the Euro MP how the company, which employs 30 skilled engineers, is now able to build more, and larger machines and plans to take on additional staff.
Dean Thompson, Managing Director said: “We supply some of the largest global companies in the fields of precision optics, ophthalmic lens and medical devices. Our new site means we can provide more and larger machines into these industries.
“The site also allows continued growth in the recruitment of skilled people in the engineering design and technical assembly areas, and supports our recent move to both sponsor from abroad and train local talent in apprenticeship courses.”
Alex Mayer MEP said: “I am delighted to open Optimal Technologies’ new site, and see their new logo. This is a good local success story. The company has a clear vision and is continuing to go from strength to strength.”
Amanda Freeland, Manufacturing Growth Manager for Hertfordshire, said: “It was a great pleasure to see one of the grant-supported projects receive this visit and publicity. Hertfordshire is a fantastic location for high-technology manufacturing and we are delighted to help any small or medium sized manufacturers access additional expertise to help grow their business.”
